A broker still covers loads by talking to people. Load boards changed where carriers are found. They did not change who answers when one calls back, or what happens to the twenty calls that come in while a rep is on the twenty first.

Most software in this space either sits above that problem or ignores it, so the desk fills the gap with headcount and the margin goes with it.
